This question came to us via student climate activists in Canada. They were used to meeting on campus and recruiting in public spaces outside of classes. Now all college classes are distance learning. Also, they did not keep central contact lists before COVID.

Yes, I'll cosign about Facebook Groups. The data has actually always supported that young adults in particular use FB, they just tend to lie about it (lol) and use it differently. The Groups and Events features are heavily utilized and both will be highlighted a lot more by that company in the very near future.
